Although I didn’t grow up with dogs, they were the first thing I wanted when I finally lived on my own. My journey into dog ownership began with Sammy, a sweet golden retriever I adopted from the Seattle Animal Shelter.
Sammy taught me how to be a responsible dog owner, how to manage reactivity, and how to embrace life with a roommate I couldn’t imagine living without. We spent 10 wonderful years together before lymphoma took him from us.
In my grief, I found healing through service by giving back to the community that brought us together. I've volunteered over 1,100 hours (and counting) at Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) in roles ranging from dog walker, foster mom, transporter, and photographer.
My love for dog photography truly sparked with Rocky as I documented him growing up. He’s still my muse, and I’ve taken thousands of photos of him across Washington and Oregon. We didn’t start dog sports until he was 4 years old, but since then we can often be found competing in NASDA, Barn Hunt, and nosework.
Fenix was an unexpected foster fail who landed in my lap when he was 9 weeks old. He had contracted a neuromuscular parasite called Neospora, and his prognosis was grim. His rear legs were paralyzed and he was in an immense amout of pain. Amazingly, he pulled through with medication and daily physical therapy, and I'm happy to share that today no one would guess he was ever disabled.
My goal with dog photography is to capture the essence of each dog and team---whether it’s their drive and athleticism, fun personality, or regal beauty. With experience as both a competitor and a photographer, I understand what it’s like on both sides of the camera!
It’s been an honor to have my work featured by the AKC, Embark, Wisdom Panel, Orijen, and HelloBark. I’ve photographed a wide range of events, from win-booth photos and ringside candids to obedience, rally, AKC Scent Work, NACSW, USCSS, NASDA, Barn Hunt, LGRA/WRA/AOK9, water trials, hunt tests, disc, agility, herding, and flyball. Basically, if there are dogs involved, I want to be there with a camera.
When I’m not at a trial, I can be found training with my dogs, photographing our adventures, and/or spending quality time with my husband.
I hope to see you and your pups soon!
